In May, BSNL had cut roaming tax by up to 40 percent for its prepaid and postpaid mobile connection following a telecom tariff order issued by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India. According to the most recent TRAI data, BSNL, which control the landline space, was the leading loser of fixed-line customers in February whereas Airtel emerged as the top gainer. The company had over 1.66 crore landlines at the end of month of February. Prasad also said that the government will make sure that Wi-Fi spots powered by BSNL are prepared in major tourist spots in the next two years.
