Senior Project Scientist

Applications are invited for the post of Senior Project Scientist (one) for a period of one year, in the institute sponsored project entitled “Scientific study of Indian knowledge systems” (A SandHI prroject).

The interested candidates are requested submit their curriculum vitae containing information regarding their degree, and work experience on plain paper or by email. The applications should reach Dr. Anurag Gupta, Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Kanpur – 208016 by 20th July 2014. Applicants who do not meet the minimum qualification and the work experience will not be called for the interview. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. The post is purely temporary and will be offered for a period of one year and renewal on satisfactory progress.

Position: Senior Project Scientist

1. Salary: Rs.27000-2700-54000 /-
2. Eligibility: Ph.D. (Indology/Archaeology with strong Sanskrit background) + 2 years of experience. Exceptional candidates with Masters degree (and sufficient experience) might be also considered.
3. Job Profile: The candidate must be able to collect textual and historical references for various projects at IIT Kanpur, and develop a database for the resource center for Indian sciences and heritage.
4. Desired: Proficiency in encoding Sanskrit on computers, knowledge of available lexical resources (Online and in print), editing experience/research publications, proficiency in English and Hindi reading/writing.
